It was possibly the worst day this year to hold a BBQ. Despite the scattered torrential downpours, strong wins, grey skies and relative coldness Carter-Zub and ourselves just went for it. The result was epic.
Nothing is a sure thing in business, and the same can be said for BBQs. However, you can almost guarantee that good food, drinks and fantastic company will result in a great time. Below is a quick summary of the Carter-Zub and Lucky 6 Marketing BBQ of September 2018.
How we Came to Host A BBQ with Carter-Zub
Two months previous we hosted the annual Lucky 6 Marketing BBQ amid the best summer we have experienced at Clifton Fields. Our client, The Alfresco Chef helped us out enormously by bringing along one of their amazing Traeger grills. Copa-Fizz served up brilliant Lancashire gins, totally free to guests, as we had put £300 behind the bar.
The event was a great success. In attendance was the Carter-Zub team. We immediately began talks about doing a co-hosted event for the courtyard. The perfect solution for us as we love making use of the shared courtyard. Also great for Carter-Zub as they had only moved into their office recently and needed an event to promote their new home.
The Joint BBQ Takes Shape
We take full responsibility for the bad timing of the BBQ. The team at Carter-Zub insisted we hold the BBQ soon after the Lucky 6 Marketing event. This was our intention but as we became busier the project fell lower down the to-do list.
It wasn’t until mid-September when we came to the stark realisation that Summer was soon to end. With it, we could expect changeable weather and a much higher risk of rain. As such we spoke to the team at Carter-Zub and chose a date, Friday 21st September 2018.
Preparations were quickly underway. The Alfresco Chef helped once more and decided to bring one of their amazing Pizza ovens as well as the Traeger. Copa-Fizz were booked to provide the Gin and Carter-Zub found an amazing singer.
The event was ready and now all we needed was the weather…
Storms, Pizza, Gin and Music
As America was battered by huge hurricanes the North West of England received its own storm. Scattered showers unloaded heavy rain, strong winds gusted along the floor and the sky was a very dark shade of grey. We were unfortunate to hold a BBQ on this most changeable day, to say the least!
Never the less we pressed on and made final preparations for what we hoped would be a great BBQ, we just had to keep our fingers crossed that our Lancashire friends would brave the weather to join us… And that they did!
What an evening it turned out to be! Copa-Fizz’s gin went down far too easily, whilst Al Fresco Chefs pizza and sausages were a real feast. The weather largely held out too, bar one or two 10-minute showers – we even had moments of blue sky although it was brief.
It was great to see everyone that came too, both Carter-Zub and Lucky 6 Marketing would like to say a big thank you. Hopefully, we might have another joint BBQ next year, but maybe when the weather is a bit better!
